The NIH is awarding $31 million in grants plus $7 million for data coordination to establish five new consortia in the Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network: the Global Leukodystrophy Initiative Clinical Trials Network, Congenital and Perinatal Infections Rare Diseases Clinical Research Consortium, Frontiers in Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation, Hyperphenylalaninemia Disorders Consortium and Myasthenia Gravis Rare Disease Network. The new awardees are focusing on clinical trial readiness, says Anne Pariser, director of the Office of Rare Diseases Research at the NIH's National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences.
