Pittsburgh International Airport is scheduled to bring its own microgrid online in 2021, powering the airport with solar energy and natural gas drilled on its land by Peoples Natural Gas. The Allegheny County Airport Authority has approved a 20-year agreement with Peoples that is expected to save more than $500,000 per year once the system is activated.
