The Ormond Beach Municipal Airport in Florida will use a $3 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration to extend a runway by 1,000 feet and put in additional lighting in an effort to enhance safety and bring more business to the area. The longer runway will allow airplanes to take off from a point further west, which will be quieter for residents, and will open up 80 acres of surrounding property for future development. The grant will cover 90% of the cost, with the remainder to be issued through a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation.
