In Louisiana, some undocumented and refugee students are being prevented from joining athletic association-backed soccer teams because of requirements that they show proof of age -- such as a birth certificate -- and a social security number. Several schools recently started a team to work around those restrictions because many teachers and administrators felt that playing sports could help such students integrate into the community and motivate them in school.
