More than 1,000 four-year colleges in the US have shifted to test-optional admissions. Bob Schaeffer, public education director for The National Center for Fair & Open Testing, says another four dozen schools are considering a similar approach, which is most common among institutions in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and New England.
