Some school districts in the US are adopting curricula that are more culturally responsive and inclusive to allow students from all backgrounds to see themselves in the instructional materials. Whitney Oakley of Guilford County Schools in North Carolina, which began its curriculum overhaul through a 75-member task force, says students "won't put the books down."
