States must navigate compensatory education laws

As school districts scramble toward online teaching, there is concern that states could be sued later because of a lapse in education that leads a student with special needs to regress. Compensatory education requires schools to provide services later if a student misses out on therapy that is part of an education plan, says Jan Tomsky, an attorney who specializes in education law.
