Colorado's Oil and Gas Conservation Commission is proposing setbacks of at least 1,000 feet between new oil and natural gas wells and school property, compared with current rules requiring that wells be at least 1,000 feet from school buildings but not assets such as playgrounds. A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17 and 18 to discuss the proposal, which the Colorado Oil & Gas Association largely supports.
