The online pharmacy Valisure detected the solvent and probable carcinogen dimethylformamide in the heart drug valsartan, and the company has asked the FDA to has lower the amount of DMF permitted in medications and recall any valsartan found to harbor the solvent at high levels. Multiple generic forms of valsartan have been recalled after the chemical N-Nitrosodimethylamine was detected.
