Eighty-seven percent of global businesses say it's important to use social media to remain competitive, and 80% report that social has grown in importance for their customers and their company since last year, according to Hootsuite. Some 54% of respondents said social transcends marketing, 90% employ social to increase brand awareness, and 77% use the channel to manage their brand's reputation.
