Global Bioenergies produced cellulosic isobutene at demonstration scale in France with wheat straw hydrolysate from its project partner Clariant. The second-generation renewable bio-isobutene is expected to be converted eventually to polymers and oligomers used in fuels, plastics, cosmetics, lubricants, rubbers and solvents.
