Beaver County, Pa., experienced a 6% increase in GDP in 2018, largely due to the construction of Shell Chemicals' ethane cracker and the jobs it has created, says Chris Briem of the University of Pittsburgh, citing Federal Bureau of Economic Analysis data. "The big question now is whether the existence of the cracker will spur any other development or manufacturing facilities in the region," Briem said.
