Non-chemical method creates catalysts

A new method to make catalysts, which are essential to the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, uses beams of nanoparticles to avoid the use of solvents. The method developed at the Nanomaterials Laboratory at Swansea University in Wales scales up previous non-chemical methods using a solid coolant and an argon matrix in which metal particles collide to eventually grow into nanoparticles.
