US refinery runs hit a record for the fifth straight year in 2018, having a daily average of 17.3 million barrels and surpassing 18 million bpd over six separate weeks of the year, according to the Energy Information Administration. Refinery runs are expected to level off this year but should climb to a new high of 17.8 million bpd next year, the EIA said.
