A lack of industry investment in antimicrobials reflects a market failure, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation CEO Sue Desmond-Hellmann said during the discussion, and Harvard Kennedy School of Government Director of Health Policy Research Amitabh Chandra said the key is to give biopharma companies more incentives, such as through longer market exclusivity rights.
