Polyethylene terephthalate, high-density polyethylene and polypropylene made from recovered plastics use significantly less energy and emit fewer emissions than those made from virgin materials, according to the Association of Plastic Recyclers. PET from recovered materials, for example, uses 79% less energy than virgin-based PET.
