PBF Energy is evaluating a renewable diesel project at its 190,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Chalmette, La., citing the facility's strategic location and the presence of an idled hydrocracker that could produce 15,000 to 20,000 barrels per day of the fuel. That hydrocracker "would be capable of processing any renewable feedstock to come onstream in half the time and at half the cost as other projects that have been announced in the marketplace," said PBF President Matthew Lucey.
