Timing meds with gene activity may hold benefits

Coordinating the timing of taking medications with genes' protein production activity may boost the drugs' effectiveness, according to findings published in Science Translational Medicine. Adjusting the timing "could reduce the amount of drug needed to achieve a desired effect or lessen side effects at the same dose," says study leader Marc Ruben of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
