Biotechnologist Wusheng Liu of North Carolina State University's department of horticultural science has developed a novel approach to introducing CRISPR/Cas9 into plant cells through lipofection without the need for inserting foreign DNA. Details of the research were published in the journal Plant Cell Reports.
