The coronavirus pandemic is particularly difficult for people with cancer, many of whom must go to hospitals for treatment, have lost their jobs and employer-sponsored health insurance and have lost access to social supports. "It's so hard navigating all of this as both a physician and as a patient -- it's hard on both sides of it," says infectious disease physician Alexea Gaffney, who was diagnosed two years ago with stage 3 breast cancer.
