The Senate Commerce Committee has reportedly scheduled an October 23 hearing regarding whether to extend or amend the Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act, which expires on December 31. Cable operators are in favor of extending the compulsory license that allows satellite companies to provide local TV stations, but broadcasters are pushing for its sunset.
