Local Radio Freedom Act is now back in Congress

The Local Radio Freedom Act has been reintroduced in both chambers of Congress, signaling lawmakers' opposition to forcing broadcasters to pay airplay royalties to record labels for over-the-air music. The National Association of Broadcasters continues to advocate on behalf of its members, with leader Gordon Smith saying, "We thank lawmakers for standing in opposition to a job-killing performance royalty that threatens to destroy the economics of local radio."
