HHS is awarding more than $1.8 billion in grants to help states combat the opioid epidemic. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will contribute $932 million toward states' opioid prevention, treatment and recovery programs, while the CDC will direct $900 million over three years to help states and local governments with opioid overdose data monitoring.
