How Jersey Mike's survived a downturn in the 1990s

Jersey Mike's experienced a difficult financial situation in the 1990s, when a recession put further strain on the company at a time when it was reinvesting all of its capital into growth. CEO Peter Cancro said the company turned things around by meeting with individual store owners and engaging in local marketing campaigns. Today the brand has 1,400 stores across the country and annual sales in excess of $1 billion.
