Research examines rates of glomerular diseases across continents

A study in the Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation journal showed that the frequencies of glomerular diseases differed significantly across four continents, with diabetic glomerulosclerosis and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis being prevalent in North America and FSGS and lupus nephritis predominating in Latin America. Researchers surveyed 29 nephropathology laboratories in Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America and found that FSGS and immunoglobin A nephropathy predominated in Europe, while lupus nephritis and IgAN were prevalent in Asia.
