Researchers from Japan have developed a painless diagnostic tool made of porous microneedles and paper-based sensors that can potentially be used to screen for conditions like prediabetes. The patches are disposable, biodegradable and biocompatible, and they can also be used without medical expertise or training, according to a study in the journal Medical Devices & Sensors.
