OCT-A scans may predict diabetic eye disease progression

Using optical coherence tomography angiography could help with predicting retinal sensitivity and visual outcomes among type 2 diabetes patients by detecting changes to their eyes' superficial vascular plexus vessel density and deep vascular plexusfoveal avascular zone. The findings, published in the journal Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science, were based on data from a year of observing 56 eyes of patients with diabetes and diabetic macular ischemia.
