Census Bureau: 8.8% of Americans were uninsured last year

A Census Bureau report found that the percentage of Americans who were uninsured last year held steady at 8.8%, unchanged from 2016. But experts expect the uninsured rate to increase this year as a result of policies introduced by the Trump administration, including the repeal of the individual mandate penalty and the approval of work requirements for certain Medicaid beneficiaries.
