Alcaligenes faecalis, a common type of bacteria found in diabetic foot ulcers, appears to promotes healing of the wounds, researchers reported in the journal Cell Host & Microbe. The findings, based on diabetic foot ulcer samples from 46 patients, suggest that evaluation of microbe populations immediately after debridement could indicate whether more treatment is needed, researcher Lindsay Kalan said.
