Researchers found that patients with type 2 diabetes who were overweight and did not drink alcohol lost more weight after four years of participating in the Intensive Lifestyle Intervention program, compared with those who consumed alcohol. The findings in the journal Obesity, based on nearly 5,000 people, suggest that reduced alcohol consumption could help improve long-term weight loss and may also lead to other health benefits.
