Harris Poll surveyed 2,027 US patients and found that less than 50% reported talking with their physicians about social health determinants, such as mental health, diet and sleep, while 52% indicated that their discussions with physicians did not go beyond medical needs such as medications, physical symptoms and results. When asked about what they want their physicians to discuss with them, 53% cited nonmedical therapies and 45% said their reasons for wanting to be healthy.
