Timely access to clinical information through shared inpatient-outpatient EHRs was associated with larger proportions of both follow-up visits delivered by telemedicine and outpatient lab tests in patients with diabetes, researchers reported in the American Journal of Managed Care. The researchers did not find statistically significant differences in return emergency department visits or hospital readmissions with the use of shared EHRS compared with outpatient-only EHRs.
