Researchers evaluated 62 pregnant women with obesity and found that those with and without gestational diabetes had similar energy intake and showed no significant difference in energy balance, caloric expenditure, physical activity, weight gain or diet macronutrient composition. The study in Cell Metabolism also found that women with gestational diabetes have higher fasting glucose and A1C levels, were at an increased risk for prediabetes and had greater fat mass and more visceral adipose tissue than those without the condition.
Study: Gestational diabetes not associated with energy balance
