Following a Mediterranean diet and increased daily fruit and vegetable intake was associated with higher verbal fluency scores, a marker of mental proficiency, in Canadian adults ages 45 to 85, researchers reported in the Journal of Nutrition Health and Aging. Obesity and higher percentages of body fat were associated with poorer verbal fluency scores.
