Evidence-based steps to address hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia are present in fewer than 20% of smartphone applications that support diabetes self-management, according to research published in the Diabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews. Researchers tested 371 free and paid diabetes apps, and also found that just-in-time bite-size diabetes self-management education to prevent future serious bouts of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia were also missing in many of the apps.
