A Canadian study in the Journal of Medical Internet Research showed that two-thirds of teens and young adults with type 1 diabetes feel stigmatized, with the experience more common among females than males. Researchers evaluated 380 youths aged 14 to 24 and found those who experienced stigma were twice as likely to have poor glycemic control as those who didn't experience stigma.
