Patients who underwent bariatric surgery had a 59% reduced risk for a major cardiovascular event, Imperial College London researchers reported in the European Heart Journal. The study, which included about 3,700 patients who underwent bariatric surgery and 3,700 matched controls, looked at non-fatal and fatal strokes and heart attacks.
