An intensive lifestyle intervention consisting of aerobic and resistance exercise sessions plus a dietary program may improve beta-cell function and glycemic control in patients with Type 2 diabetes, compared with standard care, researchers reported in the journal Diabetologia. Compared with patients receiving standard care, those in the intervention cohort had a 40% greater improvement in the disposition index.
