A study published in Diabetes Care found that older adults with prediabetes were not at an increased risk of short-term mortality, compared with patients without diabetes. Using data from 5,791 patients, the researchers also found that patients with long-standing diabetes had a 71% increased mortality risk, compared with patients with no diabetes, and patients with short-term diabetes had a 26% increased risk.
