FDA Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb on Monday said the agency plans to update its oversight of dietary supplements and suggested Congress give it more authority to regulate the $40 billion industry. The FDA also sent warnings to 12 dietary supplement sellers, telling them to stop making claims their products could cure diseases, including diabetes, cancer and Alzheimer's disease.
