Ischemic heart disease affected 126.5 million people worldwide in 2017, with 10.6 million new cases reported that year, according to a study in the European Heart Journal: Quality of Care & Clinical Outcomes. IHD deaths in 2017 were linked mainly to dietary risk, high systolic blood pressure and LDL cholesterol, among other factors.
