Type 1 diabetes patients diagnosed with depression and those who purchased antidepressants before baseline had a higher risk for diabetic nephropathy progression, according to a study in Diabetes Care. The findings, based on data from 3,730 participants, also revealed that those who had diabetic nephropathy progression tend to be significantly older and had longer diabetes duration, compared with nonprogressors.
