The CMS has issued an interim final rule that requires Medicare and Medicaid to cover any COVID-19 vaccines that receive FDA authorization at no cost to beneficiaries. Most private health insurance plans will also cover the cost of a vaccine as a preventive service, and the CMS will shoulder the cost of vaccine administration for the uninsured using money from the Provider Relief Fund.
