Researchers found that 98% of packed lunches that UK primary schoolchildren ate didn't adhere to nutritional standards. The findings in BMJ Open also showed that two in three lunchboxes contained higher than recommended sugar levels, even though average sugar levels per lunchbox dropped from 40 grams in 2006 to 24 grams in 2016, while levels of vitamins A and C and zinc also declined during the same period.
