A study in the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology found that the severity of liver fibrosis may help predict the development of cardiovascular disease among patients with type 2 diabetes. The findings, based on data from 1,481 patients, also found that other factors that may predict CVD risk among type 2 diabetes patients were smoking, metabolic syndrome and statin use.
