Australian researchers recruited 90 children with type 1 diabetes, mean age of 13.6, and found that medication adherence to either metformin or placebo was reduced during weekends/public holidays and school holidays. Published in the Archives of Disease in Childhood, findings showed no association between medication adherence and A1C levels, age, body mass index, diabetes duration, gender, insulin dose or socioeconomic status.
