AI-developed algorithm could detect disease risk, progression

Researchers using "smart shirts" with sensors that detect breathing, motion and heart rate have created an algorithm with the help of artificial intelligence to interpret measurements that could signal future chronic disease or possible progression of disease. A report in the Journal of Applied Physiology suggests it could be used to monitor patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease for disease progression, enabling health care providers to act on negative changes in a patient's health.
