A study of more than one million patients on incident dialysis found a higher short-term mortality risk with kidney failure linked to acute kidney injury than for kidney failure from diabetes and other causes, according to a study in the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. Data showed 35% of patients with AKI kidney failure eventually recovered kidney function.
