A study published online in the Annals of Internal Medicine shows that patients who survive severe cases of COVID-19 often struggle with their health months after they leave the hospital, with data indicating that almost 7% of 1,250 COVID-19 patients tracked for two months after release had died and 15% were readmitted, while others said they had difficulty returning to their work or usual lifestyle. Findings suggest a different approach should be taken for post-hospitalization COVID-19 care due to its various consequences and complications, study author Dr. Vineet Chopra said.
