A study published in Diabetes Care found an association between reduced physical activity level and depression among patients with type 2 diabetes, with individuals with depressive symptoms taking fewer steps daily than those without depression. Using data on more than 1,100 participants, findings showed that every one-point increase in depression score throughout the study period was tied to 99 fewer steps taken daily.
